Montpellier, cuando mil años no es nada / When 1.000 years is not much

Con una historia milenaria a sus espaldas y maravillas como su facultad de Medicina, sus palacetes, su mikvé medieval, su centro histórico trufado de callejuelas y placetas soleadas, además del dinamismo que insuflan sus miles de universitarios, la capital del Languedoc es un destino que hay que vivir una y mil veces.

A town with a millennial history, Montpellier holds treasures such as the Faculty of Medicine,  the palacettes, the medieval mikvé and the city’s historical town centre filled with alleyways and sunny parks and the drive of thousands of students.  Languedoc’s capital is positively a destination one must live one and a thousand times.

Muchos creen que la segunda ciudad más grande de Francia sólo acoge petroquímicas y acereras. Una lástima porque si piensan así se perderán maravillas como la Presqi’île, los ecos de los tejedores de seda en La Croix-Rousse o su casco antiguo, el Vieux Lyon, la antigua Lugdunum, capital romana de la Galia.

Many believe the second largest city in France has only room for oil refineries and steel companies. A pity beacause there are places it would be a shame to miss out on, like marvelous la Presqi’île, echoes of the silkweaver in La Croix-Rousse or the old Vieux Lyon, antique Lugdunum, roman capital of Gaul.

Bonjour Monsieur Fabre!

Tras una profunda restauración y ampliación que ha durado cuatro años, el museo Fabre vuelve a lucir sus mejores galas y a confirmar su estatus como uno de los fondos museísticos más importantes de Francia. Éste es un paseo por su nuevo rostro y los tesoros –obras de Courbet, Zurbarán, Ingres, Degas...- que alberga.

After a complete four-year restoration and remodeling, the Fabre museum was given a new look and feel and now confirms its status as one of the most important museum funds in France. This is a stroll across the new face and the masterpieces found here (Courbet, Zurbarán, Ingres, Degas...)

El barrio de Sainte Anne es el centro neurálgico de una de las artes ancestrales de la ciudad: la fabricación artesanal de instrumentos de música. Y es que alrededor de la antigua iglesia del mismo nombre, algunos de los maestros luthiers galos más prestigiosos -como Frédéric Chaudiere o Nicolas Gilles- son los artífices de auténticas joyas sonoras.

The neighbourhood of Sainte Anne is the heartland of one of the ancestral arts of the city: handicraft musical instruments. Around the area of the church that carries the same name, some of the most prestigious gaul masters -FrédéricChaudiere o Nicolas Gilles- are the creators of authentic musical gems.
