Sin duda, uno de los barrios que mayor transformación experimentó tras la caída del Muro fue Kreuzberg, sinónimo de movida alternativa, el multiculturalismo y el Pequeño Estambul. Por si fuera poco, en este barrio se encuentran ineludibles clásicos de cualquier escapada a Berlín, como el Checkpoint Charlie, o las panorámicas de Viktoriapark. Este escenario urbano, que aún se conoce como SO36 –alusión a su antiguo distrito postal- acoge el corazón del barrio turco, Kottbuser Tor, poco lustroso arquitectónicamente pero con una vida desbordante: cafeterías con aire oriental, kebabs, el mercado de Maybachufer...
Undoubtedly one of the hoods that experimented a total transformation after the fall of the Berlin Wall was Kreuzberg, a byword for alternative trends, multi-culture, Little Istanbul. On top of that, here you’ll find classic venues like Checkpoint Charlie or Viktoriapark. This urban scenario-still named SO36, relic of the old postal district- and nowadays heart of the turkish neighbourhood, Kottbuser Tor: not so stylish but full of life: oriental coffee houses, kebabs, Maychufer Market..... to name a few.
